Knoll

About the Project

Architects often hold a special reverence for the brand Knoll, a name that embodies modern design excellence and innovation. Knoll’s commitment to quality and aesthetics resonates deeply within the architectural community, making it a brand that many aspire to collaborate with. While collaborating with Knoll on a project-based role I developed a 46-page rendering guidelines document to standardize how Knoll’s furniture is visually presented in various office environments, ensuring brand consistency across different architectural settings, lighting conditions, and cityscapes. I also contributed to the 75th anniversary of the Womb Chair, creating social media content, a web feature, and an exclusive event invitation for a celebration hosted by PIN–UP magazine. This collaboration allowed me to blend storytelling, design strategy, and brand identity, reinforcing my passion for crafting visual narratives that connect history, space, and modern aesthetics.

This 46-page document served as a blueprint for creating high-quality, realistic renderings that showcase Knoll’s products in diverse architectural settings, lighting conditions, and cityscapes.

From open-concept workspaces in New York to executive offices in Chicago, the guidelines provided detailed recommendations on perspective, composition, lighting, flooring, wall treatments, and accessories—all to ensure that every rendering authentically captured the sophistication and functionality of Knoll’s designs.

Although this was a short-term project, it allowed me to immerse myself in Knoll’s design philosophy and contribute to a resource that ensures brand consistency across various visual applications.

The guidelines weren’t just about setting technical standards—they were about crafting a cohesive visual language that reflects Knoll’s legacy of innovation and modernism. Every rendering had to tell a compelling story, capturing the essence of each space, whether it was a sleek corporate office in a high-rise or a warm, collaborative workspace.

Beyond the technical aspects of rendering styles, spatial arrangements, and lighting conditions, this project was about storytelling—bringing Knoll’s vision to life in a way that resonates with architects, designers, and clients alike. Each decision, from the angle of a shot to the placement of accessories, played a role in shaping the perception of Knoll’s pieces as not just furniture, but integral elements of thoughtful, well-designed spaces. It was fulfilling to be part of a project that helped define how these iconic designs are visually represented, reinforcing the seamless relationship between furniture, architecture, and human experience.

In addition to the rendering guidelines, I contributed to the 75th anniversary of the Womb Chair, a celebration of one of Knoll’s most iconic designs. I worked on social media content, a dedicated web feature, and an exclusive invitation for a cocktail event hosted by PIN–UP magazine. These projects allowed me to craft engaging narratives that connected Knoll’s legacy with contemporary audiences, ensuring that the brand’s history remained relevant and inspiring.

While my time at Knoll was short but impactful, it was a valuable experience that deepened my passion for branding, interior environments, and design strategy. Working with a company that has such a profound influence on modern furniture design reaffirmed my belief that design is not just about aesthetics—it’s about creating meaning, shaping experiences, and elevating the spaces we inhabit. I carry this experience forward, inspired by the legacy of modernist pioneers, and excited to continue crafting visual narratives that blend beauty, purpose, and innovation.
